Mission of the Town Clerk’s Office
The Ipswich Town Clerk’s Office aim is to provide the highest level of professional service to all in the application of the multitude of duties and responsibilities set out for it in Massachusetts General Law, Massachusetts Government, the By-Laws of the Town of Ipswich, historic duties assigned by successive Boards of Selectmen and any new assignments set by contemporary leadership. The clerk continuously advances “best practices” for Massachusetts Governments in all these areas including vital records, conduct of elections, certification of voters and licensing of marriages, businesses, shellfish, and dogs. Customers of the office’s services are provided with the most timely, complete, efficient and competent attention with emphasis on the highest levels of civility and respect to which all persons are entitled.
REMINDER: Dog registrations must be received by March 31, 2017, or they will be subject to late fees. Please provide a copy of the dog's valid rabies certificate and proof of being altered when registering.
Town nomination Papers are available at the Town Clerk's Office. The seats are: Selectmen-2 Seats; School Committee-3 Seats; Moderator-1 Seat. The last day to obtain & return papers is March 28th. At least 50 certifiable signatures are required.
Nomination Papers for the Town Election are available at the Town Clerk's Office. The open seats are: Selectmen-2 Seats; School Committee-3 Seats; Moderator-1 Seat. For a name to be placed on the ballot, 50 certifiable signatures must be obtained.
