Residential Energy Efficiency Programs

Every Electric Light Department (ELD) customer is eligible for a free home energy audit which can be scheduled by calling the HELPS program hotline at (888) 333-7525.  Energy audits are the first step to identifying the most cost-effective efficiency upgrades that could save you up to 30% on your energy bills. 

The ELD offers 4 incentive programs to help our customers invest in energy efficiency upgrades for their homes.

"A smart thermostat is a Wi-Fi enabled device that automatically adjusts heating and cooling temperature settings in your home for optimal performance."

Rebate Overview:
A rebate of 50% of the product cost, up to $125 is available for eligible customers who purchase a Wi-Fi enabled smart thermostat.

To receive this rebate:
  1. Review the Program Details tab to ensure you are eligible and that your product qualifies for the rebate before making your purchase.
  2. Gather any necessary documentation (also listed under the Program Details tab).
  3. Submit your application by either:
    • going through this program's online portal.
    • printing the Mail-In Rebate Form and sending your completed application to the processing center listed on the form.

"An air-source heat pump can provide efficient heating and cooling for your home. When properly installed, an air-source heat pump can deliver one-and-a-half to three times more heat energy to a home than the electrical energy it consumes."

Overview:
A rebate of 50% of the product and installation costs, up to $1,000 available for eligible customers who install an air-source or ductless mini-split heat pump system from ENERGY STAR's Most Efficient List.

"Please note, this program is specifically for heat pump HVAC systems.  Rebates for heat pump based appliances (e.g. clothes dryers and hot water heaters) are listed under the ENERGY STAR Appliance Program."

To receive this rebate:
  1. Review the Program Details tab to ensure you are eligible and that your product qualifies for the rebate before making your purchase.
  2. Gather any necessary documentation (also listed under the Program Details tab).
  3. Submit your application by either:
    • going through this program's online portal (select "HVAC Equipment" under the Products Purchased tab).
    • printing the Mail-In Rebate Form and sending your completed application to the processing center listed on the form.

"Weatherizing your home helps you save money by saving energy, and it can also improve the comfort of your home. Conduct a home energy audit to start building your strategy for weatherizing your home, then learn about air sealing, insulation, moisture control, and ventilation."

Overview:

A rebate of 50% of the cost, up to $500 are available for the following efficiency measures after completion of a free HELPS Home Energy Audit. Customers are eligible for a maximum of $1,500 per customer per year through this program.

Blower Door Test & Air Sealing 50%, up to $500.00
Insulation 50%, up to $500.00
Duct Sealing 50%, up to $500.00

To receive this rebate:
  1. Review the Program Details tab (or the Application Form) to ensure you are eligible, and call the program hotline at (888) 333-7525 to schedule a free HELPS Home Energy Audit.
  2. After the efficiency measures have been completed, schedule a post-installation inspection by calling the program hotline, and gather any necessary documentation (also listed under the Program Details tab or on the Application Form).
  3. Submit your completed application with the signed inspection form and any necessary documentation to the address listed on the Application Form
