2023 Bystander Training

What is it?

This training is intended to teach community members to be an advocate in situations of racism, sexism, homophobia, ethnic and religious discrimination or other incidents of harassment.

When?  Thursday, January 12, 2023; 7 - 8pm     Where?  Ipswich Town Hall Cafeteria (1st Floor)

OUR MISSION & VISION

The mission of the Ipswich Human Rights Commission (IHRC) is to uphold the civil and human rights of all people in Ipswich. The IHRC‘s vision is to reinforce positive relationships, cultivate a greater appreciation of diversity, eliminate prejudice and intolerance, and promote mutual respect and acceptance of individual differences based on, but not limited to race, ethnicity, color, religious views, national origin, sex, gender identity or expression, citizenship, age, ancestry, family/marital status, sexual orientation, disability, source of income, and military status. 

WHO WE ARE

We are a group of citizens appointed to advise the Town Manager, Select Board and other Town Departments.

WHAT WE DO

The IHRC will focus on: 

  1. Responding to incidents of hate, bias, and discrimination
  2. Educating the community on issues through programming and events
  3. Community Building by partnering with groups in and around Ipswich and by encouraging community members to learn about common ties that connect the people who make up our community
