On October 27, 2015, the voters approved amendments to the Ipswich Wetland Protection Bylaw at Special Town Meeting. These amendments included changes to update the Bylaw to be consistent with state nomenclature and forms, to remove the automatic exemption for certain "minor projects" and correct administrative errors and inconsistencies with the regulations. These amendments were approved by the Massachusetts Attorney General, and and are now effective.
On February 17, 2016, the Ipswich Conservation Commission held a public hearing at which the Ipswich Wetland Protection Rules & Regulations were also amended. These amendments were intended to correct inconsistencies between the Bylaw and the regulations, streamline the permitting process, and to create a "Small Projects Permit" to replace the "Minor Projects" exemptions removed from the Bylaw at Special Town Meeting. The amended regulations are also now effective.
